REDEVELOPMENT
Community Development Department staff assist in the implementation of the Redeveloment Agency's four redevelopment project areas.
The department works closely with the residential, commercial and industrial development community to assist in all phases of any proposed developments contained within the boundaries of our Redevelopment Areas. Services range from preliminary discussions regarding the design of proposed developments, through the processing of any required approvals. In instances where development assistance is requested, the Department performs the financial and feasibility reviews required to provide Agency funding recommendations. For projects obtaining Agency assistance, the Department also performs the administrative oversight function, to ensure that the project is completed under the agreed upon terms of the Owner Participation Agreement or the Development and Disposition Agreement.
In concert with this development assistance role, the Department also assists in the City's proactive marketing efforts; monitoring the availability of development sites, as well as vacant and under-utilized commercial properties. Potential businesses are assisted in matching their needs with available locations within the City, and made aware of the benefits of locating in San Fernando. Where necessary, expedited entitlement processing can also be arranged.
