Community Development

The Community Development Department provides services and administers programs related to the built/environment of the community, and provides staff support to the City Council, Planning Commission and Historical Commission on decisions concerning the development and use of land resources in the Community. The Department addresses community planning and environmental issues, assures that building construction adheres to the City's life/safety codes, provides advance planning and current development review services in compliance with the City's general plan, enforces zoning code and property maintenance ordinance requirements, and assists residents of the community to preserve and improve their residential property and their housing opportunities.
